We are proud to announce that Nellions Moving & Relocations Uganda was recently validated as an official Core member of the International Association of Movers (IAM). This is a momentous occasion for our young company, as it shows the level which we’re playing, and communicates of our commitment to providing world-class moving services.

In this article, we explain why membership of the IAM is such a huge deal, and what it means for our clients and the Ugandan moving industry in general.

The International Association of Movers is the biggest trade association of movers globally, and Nellions Uganda is its most recent member. It comprises over 2000 moving companies from over 170 countries with expertise in international moving. Membership is renewed annually, and it comes with a slew of benefits.

  • What does it mean to be an IAM member? Why is this a big deal?

Membership is not simply a matter of adding your name to a register and remitting the membership fee. The IAM is keen on ensuring that its membership consists of the best movers globally, which is evident in its rigorous vetting process including written recommendations from existing members. IAM has very stringent measures for its members and high standards that they need to uphold in their operations and client service in order to join (and stay in) its ranks.

Some of the things that the IAM checks when vetting members include:

  • The mover has a storage facility for storing client goods
  • The company has been in business for more than a year
  • Proof of business ownership
  • The company has to be financially sound

Prospective members’ names are posted to all current members and a waiting period of one month is given. In case there is an objection, membership is declined.

With this admission, Nellions  Uganda has now been officially recognized as a respected International Moving Company.

  • Benefits of membership

By maintaining such a high-quality register of members, this avails some big opportunities to IAM members, notably:

  • Easy access to other world-class movers: since all IAM members are strictly vetted, it makes it easy for us to identify a destination services partners (the mover who will take on your move in the new country) in the client’s destination country, and we’re reasonably confident that they will do a good job.
  • Ease of door-to-door services: With members based in over 170 countries, globally, it means that Nellions  is able to execute a move from Uganda to essentially any nation on earth with ease and fluidity. And you can expect the Nellions standard of service from your origin home to the destination house.
  • Increased trust: IAM membership speaks confidently of our ability to execute international moves to world-class standards. We have the responsibility to maintain these standards, or else we risk getting our membership revoked.
  • Meetings & networking opportunities: IAM regularly organizes training sessions and meetings for its members to discuss their concerns and educate them. These global meetings enable us to link with the heads of other moving companies globally and establish relationships with them. This enables knowledge sharing on new market trends and collectively design ways of becoming better problem solvers to our mutual clients.
  • Learning & Training: In recent years the IAM has become a true hub for training moving professionals. Very many people in the world are now getting trained in a formal way which allows all of us to speak in one language: the language of moving.

This validation to the  International Association of Movers is a crucial moment for Nellions Uganda, and we would like to take the opportunity to thank our clients for their continued support and belief in our capabilities thus far. We solemnly vow to maintain and exceed our current quality of service and keep challenging the status quo as we continue to champion world-class moving, relocation and storage services in Uganda.

Happy moving!

Love,

Team Nellions™
