It’s move day. I woke up earlier than usual partly from excitement, partly from nerves. This was my first time using professional movers in Uganda, and like most first-timers, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect.
That uncertainty actually started to fade the day before.
The evening prior to my move, I received a message from Nellions Uganda confirming the details of the day ahead. The message introduced me to the captain who is the team leader in charge of my move along with the names of the crew and their expected arrival time. Knowing exactly who was coming and when immediately made the process feel organised and professional.
The message also included an important notice outlining items that Nellions does not handle during a move. I was advised to personally pack and keep with me essentials such as passports, title deeds, vehicle logbooks, personal certificates, cash, jewellery, family heirlooms, keys, medication, laptops, phones, cameras, external storage devices, Bluetooth accessories, sunglasses, personal clothing, toothbrushes, sprays, and similar personal or high-value items. This clarity helped me prepare properly and eliminated last-minute confusion on move day.
On the morning of the move, just as I was finishing breakfast, my phone rang.
It was the captain himself, calling to introduce himself and confirm their exact time of arrival. That simple phone call made a huge difference because it reassured me that the day was running according to plan and that I was dealing with experienced professional movers in Uganda who value communication.
By around 7:30 a.m., the team arrived right on schedule.
After brief introductions, the captain walked me through the plan for the day, confirming the inventory discussed during the earlier in-person assessment. That assessment, which had taken less than an hour a few days earlier and came at no extra cost, suddenly made perfect sense. Because they already knew what they were handling, the team arrived fully prepared.
Packing began immediately.

The movers brought all the necessary packing materials – strong boxes, bubble wrap, protective blankets, and specialized wrapping for fragile items. Furniture was dismantled carefully, with all fittings packed securely for reassembly. Electronics like the television and sound system were handled with extra care, wrapped, labelled, and positioned safely in the truck.
One thing that stood out was that I didn’t need to pack anything myself. Aside from the personal items listed in the notice; which I had already set aside, the Nellions team handled everything. Watching seasoned professional movers in Uganda work so efficiently was genuinely reassuring.
By midday, the house was fully loaded, and we headed to the new home.
The move itself took most of the day, which felt reasonable considering packing, transport, unloading, and setup were all included. There was no rushing, no shouting, and no guesswork; just a well-coordinated team following a clear plan.
At the new house, the experience continued seamlessly.
Furniture was reassembled, boxes were placed in the correct rooms, and appliances were set up. The team helped install the washing machine, mount the TV, reconnect DStv, and take care of wall hangings. Instead of walking into chaos, I walked into a home that already felt functional.
Payment was straightforward and transparent, just as agreed earlier. There were no hidden costs which is another benefit of working with trusted, professional movers in Uganda who prioritise planning and accountability.
By late afternoon, the move was complete.
Boxes were neatly arranged, furniture was in place, and the stress I had anticipated simply never showed up. From the pre-move communication and morning phone call to the careful handling of belongings and final installations, the entire experience felt structured and thoughtful.
For anyone moving for the first time or anyone tired of disorganised relocations, this is what working with professional movers in Uganda should feel like: clear communication, careful handling, and a move day that runs exactly as promised.
Signed,
A happy Nellions Uganda customer – working for the first time with professional movers.
